Hydrogen Hub Noord-Holland

Noord-Holland is an accelerator region for the European transition towards hydrogen. The main activities are concentrated around Amsterdam (North Sea Canal Area), and also include the offshore energy production on the north sea and its connection to Port of Den Helder as landing point. The region is developing green hydrogen-based value chains (import, production, storage, distribution, usage, export) around its airport (Schiphol), seaports (e.g. Amsterdam, Den Helder) and industry (e.g. steel).

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT PHASE

  • Business model/business case development

  • Technological readiness/technological performance (e.g. availability, efficiency, duration/lifetime)

  • Regulatory provisions

Some Eu regulation is hard to lobby on and change in the short term

  • Other

Noord-Holland has al the right essential infrastructure for hydrogen production, transport and uptake within the province or its near promximity.

COMMERCIAL AND FINANCING PHASE

  • Securing customer commitments to de-risk the financial model

There is significant access to funding in the NL. Decentralised small scale systems take off based on local offtake. However large scale industrial offtake under the current sector conditions with high E-prices and economic uncertainty is locked.

N.A.: Not available. This is possible due to two reasons: a) the Hydrogen Valley chose to not publicly display the data or b) the Hydrogen Valley did not answer the specific question in the associated survey.
