H2BE is a joint Engie and Equinor large-scale (GW) low-carbon hydrogen project in the Ghent port area (Belgium), based on ATR and CCS technology. It aims at producing hydrogen from natural gas from Norway, allowing for decarbonization rates above 95%. The captured CO2 on site is planned to be transported in liquid form from Belgian coastal area and to be permanently and safely stored below the seabed of the Norwegian North Sea. The partners aim to start operations by 2032.
